Overview

The new HND in Sports Coaching and Development gives learners the knowledge and skills necessary to work as professionals within the sector. the HND includes an embedded PDA in Sports Coaching at SCQF level 8. Both PDAs are jointly certificated with SportScotland and the Chartered Institute for the Management of Sport and Physical Activity(CIMSPA). The HND follows on from the HNC in Sports Coaching and Development.

Entry

HNC in Sports Coaching and Development with 15 credits.

Applications should be able to demonstrate a keen interest in Coaching and actively coaching is considered a positive to support any application.

·       This course is subject to a Protection of Vulnerable Groups (PVG) check.
·       Due to the high number of applications received, not all applicants who meet the minimum requirements can be selected for interview. Therefore, a well-written personal statement will be supportive in this process.

Learn

The HND comprises of lectures, group work, practical sessions, on-line classes and is delivered by vastly experienced professional Coaches qualified to elite Industry standards. Based at Broadwood Football Stadium (Broadwood Campus, Cumbernauld) you will be applying your learning in a professional sporting environment due to access to on site facilities.

The course involves study of units such as Sports Coaching Practitioner: Knowing Coaching 2, Knowing Yourself 2 & Knowing Others 2, Sports Development 2, Physical Preparation for Sports Performance and a Graded Unit 2. A range of optional units complete the 15 required credits to attain the HND.
