A musical theatre star brought a bit of Broadway to Enterprise Way when he visited New College Lanarkshire’s Motherwell Campus.

Jonathan Reid Gealt paid a visit to BA Performing Arts students to hold an industry master class to give them an insight into what it takes to make it on Broadway.

The New York-based star held the four-hour session giving students advice, tips and watching student performances.

The students were delighted to have such a famous face give them the opportunity to gain insider knowledge of the industry.

Larissa Currie said: “We are so fortunate to be given these amazing opportunities to work with acclaimed industry professionals.

“The experience has been incredibly valuable in preparing us for the industry after graduation.”

The American performer as well as composer has high credentials, including Les Miserables, The Secret Garden and Rags. He is also currently adapting the novel Dust and Shadow into a musical as well as his continued work on two other musicals and two original screenplays.

His music has been featured in sold out venues and concerts all over New York City and his two albums have been released worldwide.

Jonathan said: “Thank you to New College Lanarkshire for such a lovely morning! You’re terrific!”
