An entrepreneurial competition for students at New College Lanarkshire is launching on Tuesday 5th December.

What's the Big Idea!? is an initiative run by the College in partnership with Bridge 2 Business.

It aims to provide students with a platform to present their "big idea" and gain the help and support from experts to turn their idea into reality.

The project gives the students the chance to get business support from The Prince's Trust, Business Gateway, Scottish Institute for Enterprise and the College's Learner Engagement Team.

Following the very successful pilot of the What's the Big Idea?! initiative in 2016, the 2017/18 competition will be launching on Tuesday 5th December 2017 in 101 Park Street from 12-3pm.

The launch event will feature presentations from successful entrepreneurs, Bridge 2 Business, The Prince’s Trust, Business Gateway, Scottish Institute for Enterprise and the College’ Learner Engagement Team - aiming to educate students about the benefits of the project while demonstrating the wide range of support available to start up business.

Limited transport spaces to the Coatbridge Campus are available from Cumbernauld, Motherwell and Kirkintilloch Campuses. Student transport can be arranged by emailing: be.engaged@nclan.ac.uk.

Students are encouraged to submit their idea before Friday 23rd February 2018. All entries will be placed into a prize draw.

A panel of expert judges will then shortlist the best ideas, asking the students to come pitch before them for the chance to be crowned the winner with the biggest idea!

Gaining expert support and guidance, along with increasing confidence, presentation skills and fantastic experience, the initiative is one which all students should be encouraged to take part in!
