Case Study detail

Lucia Bianchin, 19, who lives in Rutherglen, has progressed from NQ Art & Design Portfolio to HNC Art & Design at our Coatbridge Campus.

Born in Italy, she has appeared on billboards and buses as one of the students to feature in our recent ‘Turning a Like’ campaign.

I chose to study at New College Lanarkshire because I love art and I wanted to be better at it.

The things that I like most about my course is that the teachers are always ready to give you a hand, and I really like to learn new techniques.

The most important lesson I have learned is that if I want to be very good at what I'm doing, then I have to keep going, no matter what. And if there are any obstacles, then I have to face them and overcome them and not run away from them.

The facilities at the Coatbridge Campus are very good. I found the Learning Resource Centre on the ground floor very useful – I found that I could do research there very easily.

If anyone is thinking about doing a similar course, then I would say that if you love doing art, then this is the course for you.

In ten years’ time, I hope to have a good job in the art business – for example as an illustrator for books.
