Latest Covid-19 update

Monday 2nd August 2021

When NCL opens in August, what will it be like?

It is currently expected that on Monday 9th August, most of the remaining legal Covid-19 restrictions will be lifted in Scotland, but this has still to be confirmed.

Because of this, government guidance on what the return of colleges will look like is still subject to change.

The First Minister will make an announcement on Tuesday 3rd August to confirm whether the restrictions will be lifted as planned, and we expect further guidance from the Scottish Government and Colleges Scotland shortly afterwards. We will update you as soon as we can after that.

What we can share just now is that we expect the majority of your learning to be on campus. We can also reassure you that your health and wellbeing will remain our top priority.

Here are some of the safety measures we will have in place on campus:

  • Indoor spaces will be well-ventilated.
  • Our enhanced cleaning regimes will remain in place, with an ongoing focus on high-touch points in high occupancy areas.
  • We will continue to promote regular hand washing/sanitising and ask you to clean any shared work and study surfaces.

We will continue to keep you informed as the Scottish Government shares further guidance with us.

If you have further questions in the meantime, please do not hesitate to contact us at hello@nclan.ac.uk.

Our guidance is frequently reviewed to provide you with the most up-to-date information in line with current government advice.

Scotland has moved to a five-tier system of coronavirus restrictions. Find out what the rules are in your area by entering your postcode into the Scottish Government Postcode Checker.

For the latest information, please check the Scottish Government coronavirus page.

We have put in place some new safety measures to make you all feel safe and comfortable:

  • Only attend campus if you have been specifically asked.
  • Face coverings must be worn in all public and social areas, unless an exemption applied.
  • Follow designated entrances and exits on campus.
  • Hand sanitiser stations on all floors, entrances and exits.
  • Campus contact tracing system.

Keeping you safe on campus.

To ensure everyone can keep a safe distance from others while on campus, NCL staff and students will now need to check into a campus before attending, using NCL's contact tracing systems.

This process is quick, easy and completely touchless if you use the 'Envoy' app, which can be downloaded to your smart phone either from the Apple App Store or the Google Play Store

Full guidance on how to download and use the application can be viewed here or take five to read our short guidance documents below:
