Following advice from the UK and Scottish Government, and to protect the wellbeing of staff, students and our local community, New College Lanarkshire made the decision to suspend face-to-face teaching from 1pm on Tuesday 17 March. All Academic and Professional Services staff are now working from home.
All face-to-face delivery by NCL staff in schools is suspended and staff should plan to work from home in line with the advice issued.
Teaching staff will continue to be paid based on their contractual salary and currently level of timetabled delivery.
Recognising that the normal timesheet approval process may not be suitable at this time, for staff with temporary teaching hours, confirmation will be provided by Heads of Faculty directly.
Information on assessing your workstation and homeworking is available from the WorkRite button on The Clan.
As precautionary measure we will also be asking staff who are pregnant, whether disclosed or not, to self-isolate indefinitely.
Your pay and benefits will not be affected. Please keep in touch with your line manager.
You can access all Office 365, Microsoft Teams and InfoPoint through The Clan.

Please email firstname.lastname@example.org to report absence and also to report the end of an absence.
As staff will be required to work only up to their normal contractual hours during this period of home working, overtime will not be paid after Friday 20 March. The exception will be where staff already have a contractual arrangement for additional hours – such as evening cover. These staff will continue to be paid as these hours would have been worked had the member of staff been based within the College.
However, recognising the need to ensure flexibility at this time, individual circumstances should be discussed with your line manager. To ensure consistency, no overtime will be paid without prior approval of a member of the Executive Board in advance.
If you become unwell during this period of home working, you should contact email@example.com to advise of your illness.
You will receive occupational sick pay as stated in your contract of employment. For staff with less than 1 years’ service, this is equivalent to 5 weeks at full pay and 5 weeks at half pay. Please remember to let HR know when you are again fit for work.
We would encourage those who feel fit and able to maintain regular communication with neighbours and those who are elderly or vulnerable in the community.
Our local foodbanks are still open and if you are able, your support would be valuable.
The Occupational Health Team have been working over the past few weeks to provide advice to staff currently on their active case list while assisting our communications by providing us with key external sources of advice.
