Latest announcement from SQA and Colleges Scotland on Higher National Certification, please visit sqa.org.uk to read full statement.

We are working alongside a range of colleagues across Scotland in order to identify a robust way forward to ensure that students are not disadvantaged by the consequences of the Covid-19 pandemic. These circumstances are unprecedented in recent times and they present new and complex problems that must be effectively resolved.

SQA is the awarding body for most of our programmes; however, we work with a wide range of other awarding bodies. Our over-riding principle is that we find solutions that maintain the integrity of qualifications and ensure that learners are credited for their achievements.

Currently we are carrying out the following actions on your behalf:

  1. Daily interaction with Quality networks across the college sector, seeking solutions and considering proposed solutions.
  2. Identifying alternative approaches to gathering evidence.
  3. Assembling all current evidence in order to create portfolios or records for each learner identifying current achievement and progress.
  4. Creating a profile for each course we deliver, identifying a completion status to show the extent to which summative assessment (counts towards the final grade or outcome) has already taken place and identifying the percentage of assessed activity which has still to be undertaken.

As Government and Awarding Bodies positions develop over the coming days, we will adapt our approaches to seek the best possible outcome for all students.

Regular updates will be posted on the college website and across our social channels to keep you informed of the current situation and we ask that you regularly check these to be alerted with the latest messaging.
