During the course of the programme apprentices will gain the knowledge and skills required to help them become competent technicians in the workplace. Topics covered begin with workplace safety, engineering skills leading on to vehicle inspection and servicing, maintenance, repair and diagnosing faults around the engine, chassis and electrical systems. Alongside the delivery at college our assessors will also visit your company to observe the practical skills of apprentices in the workplace and work closely with them towards gaining an SVQ work related qualification.
Completion of the apprenticeship could lead to progressing towards Diagnostic Technician, Master Technician, Workshop Supervisor, or Workshop Manager.
Candidates must be employed within the automotive industry working on vehicles over 3.5 tonnes gross vehicle weight. We advise candidates have an SCQF level 4 in English, Maths and a science subject.
