To achieve the MA Award in Electronic Fire and Security Systems Level 3 from Skills for Security, candidates must successfully complete three course areas:
Personal Development Award (PDA)
The PDA in Electronic Fire and Security Systems provides the underpinning knowledge required before entering the workplace.
The 11 units of the award are carried out through a mixture of classroom and distance learning.
In Year 1 learners will gain the basic knowledge needed to succeed in this industry. Topics covered include:

Year 3 is where learners transition from young apprentices into engineers, learning the process and procedures for the following:
Scottish Vocational Qualification (SVQ)
The SVQ focuses on the practical elements of the course which students will demonstrate their understanding of in an onsite log book.
Over three years of the MA, learners will cover a range of units in the workshop, including:
Once the units are covered in the workshop a student is expected to complete the same unit practically under supervision onsite with their employer. Units include:
Students complete 13 log books over the course of the three year MA relevant to what they are working towards onsite and in the workshop.
