Pathway Apprenticeships

Pathway Apprenticeships have been developed by Skills Development Scotland and partners. They support the Scottish Government’s Young Person’s Guarantee, which ensures everyone aged between 16 and 24 the opportunity of work, education or training.

If you've recently left school, are unemployed and not receiving benefits, a Pathway Apprenticeship could help you to prepare for the world of work. You'll gain an industry-recognised qualification and accelerate your progression into future employment or further apprenticeship opportunities.


Delivered by New College Lanarkshire in partnership with employers:

  • You’ll gain knowledge, skills and experience through a series of activities, including industry projects and work placements.
  • The course lasts up to 26 weeks and starts on 1st February 2021.
  • You’ll get a £100 weekly allowance.
  • These are remote learning courses with all teaching and assessments online.
  • Following successful completion, you will have gained a qualification and valuable insight and experience of the world of work.

Pathway Apprenticeship - Business Skills

This course allows you to develop essential skills and knowledge in key areas of business administration. You will build a strong foundation and understanding in subjects such as management of people and finance, working with IT software – spreadsheet and database and contemporary business issues

Your skills will be put to the test in a work based challenge designed to enhance your employment skills.

Pathway Apprenticeship - IT Digital Software

On this course you will work towards an industry-recognised National Progression Award in Software Development as well as completing a work based challenge unit supported by a local employer.

You will also undertake work based units in Health and Safety, Data Modelling and Computer Programming among others to improve your technical skills as well as communication, team working and confidence.

Pathway Apprenticeship - IT Digital Hardware

Gain an industry-recognised qualification in Professional Computer Fundamentals with New College Lanarkshire. You will learn and develop essential skills in Security Fundamentals, Networking Fundamentals, and Server Administration Fundamentals.

You will also undertake work based units in Health and Safety and Working With IT & Telecoms Hardware and Equipment to improve your technical skills as well as communication, team working and confidence.
