Do you love Art & Design? Are you looking to develop a diverse portfolio of work to set you on the track to where you want to go? Or maybe you are just a creative soul who never took that step towards studying what you are passionate about? If any of these are you, then keep reading.

We don’t just sit in a studio, you can expect to be on location visiting Galleries, Exhibitions, Museums, Artist’s Studios & Workshops. We always enjoy the challenge of real-life experiences and working with live client briefs. You could see your work put into production by a brand or organisation! 

 

Entry

Entry requirements for this course include:

  • National 4 or above Art & Design or Graphic Communications
  • National 4 or above English

OR

Experience and passion for the visual and creative arts.

Please note: You will also be required to attend an interview and provide a small portfolio demonstrating your creative skills.

Learn

In the Visual Creative Arts department, you will be encouraged to develop your own ideas and style, to look at creatives and work that inspires you and to create work that you are passionate about. We aim to spark new interests in you as well as let you find your own artistic path.

In your year of study, you will gain skills in the following:

  • Drawing Skills & Techniques
  • Traditional & Contemporary Painting
  • Sculpture
  • Photography
  • Adobe Photoshop & Illustrator
  • Printmaking
  • Illustration & Graphic Design
  • Exhibition Experience 

You will produce a personal portfolio of multiple experimental sketchbooks and final artworks that will help you advance to the next step in your creative industries career. You will learn to use a wide variety of traditional and digital materials and technologies with access to specialist studio equipment. You will try out new techniques, all of which will give you the skills needed to gain entry to an Advanced Art & Design Course as well as options relating to other creative industry courses.

All materials and equipment will be provided for your studies, subject to eligible bursary requirements. Additionally, you will take part in collaborative projects and exhibit your work at the end-of-year exhibition.
