Computers are an integral part of daily life in the 21st century. In the workplace it is important to have an understanding of a PC system. This course provides a solid foundation of computer skills upon which you can build a career.
This course is a logical progression from NQ and Higher level studies. It also appeals to those who have some experience in working in a computing environment but wish to attain qualifications to support their knowledge/skills. Students follow a common core subject set, then branch into one of three possible specialist subject areas*.
The course is designed to build knowledge and competence in Software Development, Technical Support, Networking or General Computing. It also leads to progression opportunities at HND level.

Aim of Qualification
You will learn and understand the fundamental workings of a PC system, identify and resolve common issues that can occur with regular use. You will be introduced to the legislation and laws governing the use of systems in any environment and also look at the design and operation of software and how it impacts on systems and daily life.
Learners will complete accredited courses within the HNC and have the opportunity to undertake professional vendor exams as part of this course and are encouraged to do so.
All learners will have the opportunity to train for and enter national IT competitions. We have a strong record of past participants who are highly skilled and have represented the college both Nationally and Internationally.
