Overview


This course offers you the opportunity to develop skills in Cyber Security and Networking Technologies. There is an emphasis on the development of technical skills on both Windows and Linux server platforms with the Cisco professional CCNA curriculum at the heart of the course. The course also introduces Ethical Hacking, Computer Forensics and Intrusion Prevention.

 

 

Course Information


  • Direct entry into Year 2 of this course will be considered if you have a current HNC Computing (preferably 15 credits).
  • Entry is also subject to a satisfactory interview, and an academic reference may be requested.

Throughout this course you will learn the following:

  • To develop a range of specialist knowledge and skills in networking
    technologies.
  • Where applicable, to provide learners with the underpinning knowledge and skills
    that may allow them to sit vendor certification examinations.
  • To prepare candidates for progression to further studies in a related discipline at
    SCQF level 9
  • To prepare candidates for employment in the general category of IT&T engineer/
    IT&T technician.

You'll learn to design, implement and manage a secure network infrastructure to a professional standard. Studying the routing and switching and other technologies within networked systems. Understand the cyber threats to systems and how to detect and defend against these. Investigate cloud computing technologies.
