Introduction to creating a basic website structure and styling the web pages using HTML and CSS. You will also be introduced to optimising images for the web.


Course Information

No formal entry requirements are required for this course but basic IT Literacy is required.

You will learn how to construct and style a simple website, this will include adding images, text, links, and video. You will structure and style the web pages using HTML and CSS. 

HTML and CSS are two of the main languages used to create web pages. HTML5 is the current standard and you will use a range of HTML5 tags and attributes.  Cascading Style Sheets will be introduced to apply styling to the web pages, for example, colours, fonts, layout, sizes, and positions.  You will be made aware of the syntax used for CSS and the methods used to apply it to the website.

You will be guided to free open source software and online learning resources that can be easily accessed from the World Wide Web. This will allow to carry on from home or work.

Upon successful completion of this course, you could progress onto Level 6 Web Development and Digital Design.
