Then the Introduction to Dental Nursing is the perfect course for you!

Do not worry if you have not achieved formal qualifications, this course will kick start your career. You will be learning in a state of the art facility while being taught by an award winning team who are trailblazers in the field of dental nursing. The team have extensive experience in teaching students at this level and are gifted in nurturing students to develop confidence to achieve and move on to the next level of study within this profession. 

Entry

There are no formal entry requirements. Applicants would be expected to demonstrate an interest in working with patients and working within teams. It is also expected that you will have good communication and organisational skills as well as an interest in dentistry.

Learn

You will learn a range of skills and knowledge relevant to a dental nurse studying at SCQF Level 4 to include:

  • Cross Infection Control
  • Decontamination of Reusable Dental Instruments
  • Dental Anatomy
  • Essential Dental Nursing skills
  • Examination of the Dentition
  • Health and Safety
  • Personal Presentation and Protection
  • Practicing as a Dental Nurse
  • Preparing Materials to Support Routine Dental Treatment
  • Routine Dental Treatment
  • Core Sills: Communication, ICT and Numeracy

Attendance is three days per week. In semester 1 you will experience simulated learning using equipment and instruments routinely used in dentistry, this will prepare you for placement within a variety of dental environments-placement takes place in semester 2.
