The NPA Playwork and Childcare supports learners to gain knowledge and understanding that will help them to contribute to the play and development of children and young people. Learners will have the opportunity to develop their personal qualities, knowledge, and skills in play, playwork and childcare, communication and development wellbeing, and health and safety surrounding the topic. The course comprises of units, which cover topics such as play, child development, children’s rights, working with children and young people. The learner will be placed within a playwork or childcare setting one day per week. This is a beneficial opportunity as it enables learners to apply their theory to practice.
Your place on the course will be subject to a satisfactory enhanced Disclosure Scotland check in the form of a PVG.

This course offers placement. Due to the type of placement experience offered placement finish time may extend to 18.00 hours
Successful completion of the course may allow progression on to the NQ (Level 6) Early Education and Childcare or the PDA (level 6) Education Support Assistance.
The NPA is a recognised entry level qualification, which will allow for the recognition of knowledge and skills prior to progression to a registerable qualification with the Scottish Social Services Council (SSSC).
