Employability programmes

New College Lanarkshire works with Skills Development Scotland (SDS) to deliver a range of courses through the Employability Fund.

These employability programmes are as varied as they are exciting – some recent examples are students renovating a community centre in Coatbridge, putting social media skills to use in a Motherwell contact centre and working in security at Celtic Football Club.

It’s all about building confidence, boosting communication skills and teamworking – and many of our students have gone straight into jobs with their work placement employers.

Applicants must meet certain criteria, including being unemployed and aged over 16 years-old.

There are three levels of courses that we offer:

  • Stage 2 – Prepare Yourself For Work, a programme to create a foundation upon which you can build your employability skills, personal development and core skills.
  • Stage 3 – Entry Into Work, a programme to help you develop vocational skills and enhance employment opportunities through work experience with a local employer.
  • Stage 4 – Career Ready, a programme to provide industry-specific courses with opportunity for direct access to employment.
