Overview

This course is run in partnership with Strathclyde University and is for those who are enthusiastic about working as part of a team to support the delivery of integrated Education and Social Services. Three days each week in college will give you the opportunity to undertake a range of subjects with the focus being on learning about these integrated services and the skills necessary to undertake professional roles. After successfully completing the course, students will be awarded the Diploma of Higher Education in Education and Social Services.

Entry

The admissions criteria for this course are:

• A relevant HNC qualification, GU grade not required
• Work or strong placement experience
• 80% attendance at HNC level preferred
• 1 academic reference

A relevant HNC qualification includes the following:

  • HNC Social Care/Social Services
  • HNC Healthcare Practice/ Care and Administrative Practice
  • HNC Childhood Practice
  • HNC Additional support Needs

Relevant equivalent SCQF Level 7 HNC with appropriate work placement may be considered. This should have been achieved within the last five years.

Learn

Units include Introduction to Integrated Services; Working, Learning and Practice in Relation to Social Services and How People Develop and Learn. There will be a four week placement as part of the course to observe how services are moving towards integrated provision.

One year of the programme will be undertaken at New College Lanarkshire with completion of the degree over 2 years at the University of Strathclyde.
