This course is suited for adult returners to education or career changers who wish to pursue a career in Health Care. Students successfully completing this programme can articulate on to a number of degree programmes, including; Mental Health Nursing, Learning Disability Nurse, Additional Support Needs and Social Care or HNC Health Care Practice/HNC Social Services or employment within the Health Care sector, joining the Health & Social Care career community.
There are no formal entry requirements. Students should have little or no qualifications and be out of formal education in excess of 5 years. Students must be able to demonstrate sufficient life experience to support their SWAP Access to Professional Healthcare application with the aim to further their studies to degree level. Participation at an information session, skills assessment and interview forms part of the selection criteria.
Please note your place on the course will be subject to a satisfactory Enhanced Disclosure Scotland Check in the form of an enhanced PVG.
Please note this is not an entry criteria for Midwifery
Applicants will have an opportunity to learn about the health and social care professions and the career paths available in these areas at SCQF Level 6.

A key element of the program is the Personal Development Portfolio where skills and qualities are expanded and tools development to support progression.
Learners will undertake blended learning incorporating online and on campus learning for three and a half days per week. The college day starts at 9am and finishes at 4.15pm.
Progression to HNC Social Services, HNC Health Care Practice within the college.
Entry to university to study Nursing: Learning Disability Nursing, Mental Health Nursing or Social Care
Employment as a support worker in Health and Social Care.
