Overview

Complementary Therapies is a Higher National Certificate that provides learners with an industry recognised qualification and the knowledge and skills necessary to work within the Complementary Therapies industry. The award is suitable for those who wish to pursue a career in Complementary Therapies. This qualification can bring employment opportunities such as working within Voluntary Organisations in Health Care, Health Centres/Clinics and the National Health Services. Work independently on self-employed basis or working within hotel chains and spas.

When these therapies are applied on their own or combined with conventional medicine, complementary therapies may offer a more integrated approach to healing, stress relief and promote a more positive lifestyle and well-being approach.

 

Entry

Entry requirements for this course include:

  • Learners progressing from relevant National Certificate programmes
  • School leavers with a minimum of two Highers
  • Health Care Service employees
  • Adult returners, change or career or upskilling

Candidate holds minimum of two Highers in academic subjects, preferably subject relevance, eg English, Biology, Chemistry. NQ Unit/s at SCQF level 6 in appropriate subject area, eg Wellness Therapies. SVQ/NVQ at level 3 or equivalent in appropriate subjects. HNC/HND in Beauty Therapy or Occupationally relevant skills and experience. 

For this course you will be required to purchase a kit and uniform.
