Introduction to SVQ Hairdressing
Overview
This starter course will offer candidates an opportunity to be part of the wonderful, creative and exciting world of Hairdressing. Candidates will gain a good understanding of Health & Safety and sustainability whilst working in a salon environment. You will cover practical and theoretical aspects including shampooing, cutting techniques, developing blow dry skills, applying colour and more.
Entry
All candidates should have the drive to be taught at a fast pace and be willing to learn current and classic techniques of Hairdressing. Candidates should be able to demonstrate inspiration and creativity.
Candidates should also have good communication and personal presentation skills.
Please note: due to Health and Safety Regulations, applicants must be at least 16 years of age by 30th January 2024.
Learn
Candidates will learn the basics of all fundamental hairdressing skills i.e.
- choosing the appropriate shampoo/conditioning treatments for their clients' needs
- using effective scalp massage techniques
- developing blow drying and styling skills
- basic colouring application and techniques
- long hair design
Candidates will also learn the theory behind this to help encourage knowledge and understanding of the subject areas.
