Course overview
This is an introductory qualification that develops the skills, knowledge, and attitudes needed for work in the Early Education and Childcare sector. You will investigate children’s development and the milestones they should meet between the ages of 0-12 years.
Various childcare organisations and how thee support children and families will be explored during this course. The skills and qualities required b to promote a positive care environment will be also be researched.
You will explore and participate in a variety of play experiences that promote children’s learning and development. You will also gain an awareness of the qualities and skills that are required to be a parent and the ways in which the role of the parent is important in the effective development of the child.
What you will learn
Course assessment consists of practical and theoretical tasks.
Entry requirements
You should be working towards or have gained a minimum of at least 3 National 4 subjects, one of which should be English.
Progression
Career options would include Child Minding, Hospital Play Specialist, Play Worker/Assistant, Nanny or Early Years Practitioner.
Course overview
This is an introductory course that develops the skills, knowledge, and attitudes needed for work in the Early Education and Childcare sector. You will be introduced to children’s development from 0-16 years of age. You will explore the sequences and patterns of development and how they interrelate with each other.
You will research health needs of children and the ways in which various factors may impact upon the development of the child .You will develop an understanding of how children benefit from a range of play opportunities; through planning, participation and review of a wide range of different types of play experiences.
Different career options within the sector will be investigated, along with the skills, qualities and qualifications necessary to gain employment. The specific needs of babies and children in relation to care and feeding will be explored.
