Overview

This is a work-based qualification which will give you registration with SSSC. This course is open to both individuals working in the care sector who want to progress in their career and those individuals who are not currently working within the care sector but who are interested in  a career in social care.

Individuals who are already in work will be expected to attend college one evening per month. Applicants who are not in care employment are expected to attend college 1 day per week and you will be given a practice placement for 3 days per week.

Entry

Evening Class Information:

You require to be working in a care environment for a minimum of 16 hours per week.

Evening classes are one evening every four weeks.

 

Full Time Classes:

You will be on campus 1 day per week (Cumbernauld Campus)

if you do not already work in the care sector you will be given a placement for 3 days per week.

Individuals will be required to complete a PVG as part of the vetting process for all individuals working or on placement in care services.

Evening Students course includes:  

  • Completion of 4 mandatory and 2 optional units which make up the SVQ 2 Social Services and Healthcare Award. 
  • Observation of Practice carried out by your Work-Based-Assessor

 

Full-Time (Day Time) course includes:

  1. Completion of 4 mandatory and 2 optional units which make up the SVQ 2 Social Services and Healthcare Award.
  2. Observation of Practice carried out by your Work-Based-Assessor
  3. Studying units including; communication, Numeracy, Values and Principles and Social services in Scotland
