College hospitality degree accredited by UWS

Aspiring hospitality gurus focussed on getting ahead in the industry have a unique chance to do so at New College Lanarkshire.

BA Hospitality Business Management, a third year degree programme on offer at the College’s Motherwell Campus, has been re-validated by University of West of Scotland until 2023.

The course will allow students completing HND Hospitality Management or Professional Cookery the opportunity to progress to the degree programme at the College, retaining access to the state-of-the-art facilities, expert teaching staff and college life while achieving a university-accredited degree.

Focussed on developing academic and vocational skills to an expert level, the programme is the perfect opportunity for those looking to get into the industry or for current industry professionals who want to enhance their skills and knowledge.

Sian Worthington, Assistant Head of Faculty for Service Industries, said: “The BA Hospitality Business Management is a fantastic one year top up to the HND which allows learners to continue studying in a college while gaining a university qualification.

“I am delighted that the relationship with UWS will continue and the collaborative working with the University and the School of Business and Enterprise goes from strength to strength.

“The Hospitality Industry in Scotland is a growth sector and the job opportunities for our graduates will be very exciting. As an industry the recognition of higher level qualifications will help support jobs in the industry becoming a career choice.

“In addition, learners who study hospitality and professional cookery at all levels gain skills for life which are transferable across different industry sectors.”

The full-time programme starts in August and anyone with a HND in Hospitality Management, Professional Cookery or equivalent are invited to apply. Applications are also welcome for the part-time route from industry professionals who wish to enhance their qualifications and satisfy the entry requirements.
