Childcare students at the Motherwell Campus joined in the efforts to raise awareness on World Mental Health Day (Thursday 10th October) by raising money and awareness for the UK’s leading charity fighting for children and young people’s mental health, Young Minds.

The Introduction to Childcare class took part in the #HelloYellow initiative, raising money for the charity while showing young people they are not alone with their mental health.

Dressed brightly in yellow, the class went around the campus raising awareness of the charity and collecting donations.

The group raised over £500 with their efforts, which will now go to helping young people get the best help needed for their mental health.

Class teacher Leigh Corbett said: “The students wanted to do something to raise awareness for World Mental Health Day, so chose the #HelloYellow campaign as it supports young people with issues the students learn about every day as part of their course.

“The response and support from staff and students at the Motherwell Campus was overwhelming and on behalf of the class I’d like to thank each and every person who donated.”
