Dental Nursing Apprenticeship

You should be between 16-24 years of age and you must be employed as a Dental Nurse within a dental practice. It is your employer’s responsibility to ensure you are immunised in line with GDC requirements and that you have a PVG.

Practical skills and underpinning knowledge associated with dental anatomy; dental charting systems; conservative dentistry; dental radiography; endodontic treatment; minor oral surgery; health and safety; decontamination and cross infection control; signs, symptoms, causes and prevention and treatment of oral disease.

On completion of the MA you will receive a Modern Apprenticeship Certificate detailing that you have secured a Scottish Vocational Qualification in Dental Nursing at SCQF Level 7; a Professional Development Award at SCQF Level 7 and Core Skills in Numeracy, Communications, Information Technology, Working with Others and Problem Solving.

Registration with the GDC, continual employment as a Dental Nurse or possible articulation on Year 2 of the SQA Higher National Diploma in Dental Nursing via evening class study
