This course is designed to provide students with a range of skills, industry-recognised qualifications and certificates that will assist them in the pursuit of a construction-related apprenticeship.



Course Information

No formal entry requirements.

  • National 4 / 5 qualifications in Construction or similar technical discipline would be a considerable advantage to prospective students.
  • General experience of mature students considered.
  • Applicants must be 16 years old to commence this course.

Candidate’s specific course suitability will be decided at interview, preference will be given to those who show a genuine desire to work in the construction industry.

Principle trade areas include:

  • Carpentry and Joinery
  • Painting and Decorating
  • Bricklaying

Qualifications, Certificates and Experiences

SCQF 4 – City & Guilds Diploma                                                              

Tested  – Construction Skills Certification Scheme (CSCS)


Work Placement

Engagement with employers through extended work placements will be available for students who excel and show a genuine desire to enter the industry.

The course is tailored to develop the skills required to help students gain employment in the construction industry or further study at Level 5 Construction or Level 6 NC Built Environment.
