Breaking Barriers: Provost Award Winner!

New College Lanarkshire's Equality, Diversity & Inclusion Adviser has been recognised for her impact in pushing the college's EDI agenda forward, winning the Provosts Award in partnership with New College Lanarkshire.

Jaz Sandhu's award reflects the progress NCL has made in building a more inclusive environment across the institution. Beyond her core EDI remit, Sandhu has also played a key role in shaping Breaking the Cycle conference and International Week, whilst ensuring staff and students feel heard on social issues.

Speaking after receiving the honour from Provost Kenneth Duffy, Jaz emphasised the collaborative nature of the work. "I am absolutely delighted to win this award; this really emphasises the work we do in the college and as a team," she said. "It is for everyone that I've worked with here as we progress to a more inclusive environment."

One nominator captured what makes Sandhu valued across the college: "Jaz is always kind and never too busy to stop for a chat or offer support when someone needs it."

The nomination process recognised the efforts of seven colleagues: Paula Etherson, Jacqui Clark, Andrew Ure, Jaz Sandhu, Michelle Docherty, Nicola Bradford and Aileen Kane.
