NCL at heart of new partnership

A new partnership between New College Lanarkshire and Glasgow School of Art has produced an ambitious augmented reality application designed to transform how Afib (atrial fibrillation) is visualised and understood in clinical education.

The interactive 3D AR app, developed over the summer months, was unveiled at a showcase event on Tuesday 4 August, demonstrating the first fruits of a collaboration between NCL, Glasgow School of Art, and Glasgow University.

The project began with a concept from Tony Brady, lecturer in Dental Health & Social Care, who recognised the potential for digital innovation in medical visualisation. "We put together a project bid to Glasgow School of Art, and they were enthusiastic from day one," Brady explains.

"The collaboration between the three institutions has been an excellent experience," Brady notes. "This is the first time we've worked with Glasgow School of Art in this way, and it's opened up real possibilities for how we might take this forward."
