NQ Psychology with Criminology
Gain a thorough introduction to Psychology and Criminology - topics that analyse human behaviour, the mind and a variety of explanations for crime and deviance within modern society. There will also be the opportunity to study cyber security and other social science subjects whilst developing your communication skills.
Entry is competitive and may be subject to interview. A strong personal statement is highly recommended.
At least 3 relevant qualifications at SCQF level 5 (e.g. National 5, intermediate 2, standard grades at credit).
Relevant qualifications include: English, History, Geography, Modern Studies, RMPS, Psychology, Business Management, Mathematics, or a science subject
Those with alternative experience and learning may be considered following discussion with the course leader. Such applicants must submit a personal statement, including details of previous work experience.
The programme will focus on SCQF Levels 5 and 6 and includes additional units in other social sciences disciplines (such as Sociology, Politics and Philosophy) and Communication/Literature. The Psychology classes will involve undertaking some research; while Criminology will cover Forensic Psychology, Crime Scenes, Crime in the Community and the Nature and Extent of Crime. 10 hours of the 18 hour per week course will focus exclusively on Psychology and Criminology.
