NCL Staff go on Mongolian adventure

Curdled milk and football help build bonds between Lanarkshire and Ulaanbaatar!

Allan Moore and Scott Woodhouse from the Department of Sport, Physical Activity and Student Engagement visited our partners at New Mongol Academy (NMA) in Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia over the Summer.

NCL and New Mongol Academy (NMA) have been partners since 2020 after receiving a grant from the ERASMUS+ International Credit and Mobility programme. NMA staff visited NCL in November 2022 and this was the reciprocal visit to meet staff and scope out future collaborative opportunities.

Football coaching is a key focus of the partnership and Allan and Scott provided training and coaching sessions for Middle and High School students of New Mongolia School, College students of New Mongol College of Technology and their Physical Education teachers.

They also met with the representatives from local clubs to learn about the current situation of football coaching in Mongolia and how it is being developed.

During their visit, Scott and Allan enjoyed cultural activities including visiting the Genghis Khan Equestrian Statue at the Tsonjin Boldog Monument Complex, enjoyed a traditional Mongolian lunch was Khorkhog barbecue and hot tea with curdled milk and took park in some traditional Mongolian horse riding.

They had a fantastic trip that really cemented our links with NMA!
