Corporate Parenting

We are devoted to the welfare of our young individuals in care or those transitioning from care, and we have devised a three-year plan for this purpose.

Our approach

New College Lanarkshire (NCL) offers educational opportunities within Lanarkshire and East Dunbartonshire, serving a diverse group of over 15,000 learners. It operates from various campuses located in Coatbridge, Cumbernauld, Kirkintilloch, Broadwood, and Motherwell, while also maintaining connections with community learning centers across the region.

NCL is recognized as a 'corporate parent' as defined in the Children and Young People (Scotland) Act 2014.

We have a responsibility to formulate a plan that outlines our approach to fulfilling our corporate parenting obligations for individuals with care experience. Our commitment to the well-being of young individuals in care or those transitioning from care is evident in our creation of a comprehensive three-year plan.

Are you recognized as a looked-after young person or someone with care experience?

To ensure we can support and guide you through your educational journey, it's important for the College to know if you are in care or have experienced care. Please indicate this on internal documents such as the application form, enrolment form, and bursary application forms.
