Connect to the Arts
Overview
Connect to the Arts is a one-year, full-time course designed for learners who want to explore their creativity and gain practical experience across different areas of the arts. Such as, visual, performing, digital and media and music. This dynamic, hands-on programme blends classroom learning with creative classes, giving students the opportunity to express themselves, develop new artistic skills, and build confidence in a supportive, inclusive environment.
The course is open to learners progressing from within New College Lanarkshire or individuals with Additional Support Needs who are passionate about the arts and ready to take the next step in their creative journey.
Learn by Creating
Get involved in exciting projects that explore a range of art forms, including visual arts, music, drama, and digital media. You’ll plan, design, and present creative work both individually and as part of a team.
Develop Artistic Skills
Gain hands-on experience in creative expression, performance, and presentation while learning about key techniques and processes used in the arts industry.
Gain Recognised Qualifications
Work towards ASDAN units and college-based outcomes that celebrate your achievements and support progression to higher-level creative courses or volunteering opportunities.
Entry
Applicants should:
- Be working at SCQF Level 2, or have completed a suitable introductory programme at New College Lanarkshire (or equivalent experience).
- Have a genuine interest in the arts, creativity, and self-expression.
- Be willing to participate in both classroom learning and practical activities.
- Be able to work positively with others and contribute to group projects.
- Demonstrate enthusiasm and a commitment to developing new skills.
Learn
Through creative practice and guided study, you will:
- Explore a variety of art forms, such as visual arts, music, drama, and digital media.
- Learn how to plan, create, and present artistic work to an audience.
- Build teamwork, communication, and self-expression skills.
