Overview

Being the equivalent of a 2nd year undergraduate degree, our HND Sound Production course covers a wide range of specialised music and sound production disciplines and continues on from our HNC Sound Production course. Learners further complement their skill set utilising the department’s state-of-the-art facilities to embark on a host of practical projects that cover topics such as: Advanced Studio Production, Game Audio, Electronic Music Production, Spatial Recording & Reproduction, Mastering & Audio Restoration, Audio Post Production and much more.

Former students have been highly sought after within the industry, with a high percentage going straight into employment or further study on our Degree / Honours Degree in Sound Production.

 

Entry

HNC Sound Production (HND Year 1).

Candidates who obtained their HNC from other institutions are also welcome to apply.

Learn

You will learn the essential practical and theoretical skills necessary to work within the Sound Production industry. You will study the advanced usage of microphones and other hardware in various contexts as well as DAW functionality using industry standard software such as Pro Tools and Ableton Live.

By conducting your own recording sessions under supervision from your lecturers, you will explore advanced practical audio editing skills that are used for both TV & Film and Game design, as well as evolving your ability to create simple song arrangements and productions within a music context and mixing in 5.1 surround sound format. You’ll also further develop your skills in the much required use of game audio.

Throughout the course you will develop an advanced understanding of the professional skills, work habits, and attitudes expected by the Music and Sound Production industry. This will include client interaction, working in teams, delivering high quality work to tight deadlines and decision making.

You’ll also be encouraged to work with students from other disciplines including Music, Music Business, Performing Arts and Film & TV collaborating on projects that will introduce you to working in real-life situations.
