NC Beauty Care and Make-Up
Overview
NC Beauty Care and Make-Up is an excellent and exciting introduction to beauty, nail treatments and make-up; this course provides the qualifications you need to gain a junior role within the Beauty Industry or entry to higher level courses. You will study basic beauty treatments for face, body and nails and make-up application techniques for the beauty salon and related subjects within this course.
Entry
Minimum entry requirements:
- A minimum of 3 National 4 Awards or 3 Standard Grades at Grade 4 or above ( English preferred)
- or successful completion of SVQ Level 1 Beauty Therapy or NPA equivalent
- or successful outcome of competitive interview.
Applicant must provide a Personal Statement with their application. Please note you must be age 16 by 31st October. This is due to Health and safety requirements.
You will be invited for a competitive interview where you will get the opportunity to find out more about the course and tell us why you are interested in this subject area.
Learn
Learning is achieved in many exciting ways such as demonstrations, lectures, group work, role play, portfolio building, guest speakers and practical salon workshops. A blended learning approach to learning and teaching may also be applied to further develop learning in a modern digital way. We also have fully equipped salons where members of the public can book appointments and receive treatments to help our students practice their skills.
Units undertaken may include the following:
- Facial Skin Care
- Bridal and Evening Make-Up
- Waxing Treatments
- Back, Neck and Shoulder massage
- Manicure
- Pedicure
- Nail Finishes
- Nail Art
- Selling Skills
Students will also be expected to bring clients for practice and assessment purposes. Correct uniform and if applicable PPE must be worn at all times within the learning environment.
