NQ Computer Animation & Digital Art
Interested in Computer Animation & Digital Art? This is the perfect course for you! This course has been designed to introduce you to animation software packages across both 2D and 3D. The course will give you the opportunity to create a series of short animations enabling you to confidently display your knowledge and understanding of the fundamentals of computer animation and the creative process.
You will develop a working-understanding of the creative processes involved in the production of Animation Projects; from Concept-Art, through Development, to final Post-Production techniques.
4 standard grades or 4 national 5 passes, preferably including art
Relevant skills and experience will also be considered.
Please Note: At application stage you will be required to submit a small portfolio/sample of your drawings and sketches. Entry may also be subject to a satisfactory interview.
On this course, you will study a wide range of units including, but not limited to:
- Character Creation – Designing an original character from scratch; learning the fundamentals of conceptual drawing, proportions and model sheet production.
- Drawing Development – Developing Backgrounds/Environments using the process of Research, Mood-Boards, and Thumbnail-sketches to create fully-fledged, high-quality Environments.
- Still Images – Taking photographs and bringing them to life in Adobe Photoshop. Learning simple editing skills in Photoshop, progressing to skills that are essential in the production of creative compositions.
- Introduction to 2D/3D Animation – Using skills gained from other Modules to bring ideas to life; from Storyboarding to Animatics and then the final Animation
You will receive tablet and tripod to support your studies which are yours to keep, upon successful completion of the course. This is subject to eligible bursary requirements.
You will be introduced to and trained in the use of industry-standard software including Autodesk 3ds Max, Adobe: Animate, Photoshop, After Effects, Premiere, and Illustrator.
