A global friendship
NCL Welcomes Egyptian Partners to Strengthen International Collaboration.
New College Lanarkshire was delighted to welcome two distinguished academic leaders from Egypt recently, marking an exciting development in the College's international partnerships.
Professor Raefa Alam, Dean of the Faculty of Nursing at Mansoura National University, and Professor Gamal Shiha, Chairman of the Board of Ibn Rushd University and the Egyptian Liver Foundation, visited NCL campuses to explore opportunities for future collaboration.
The visit showcased the breadth and quality of NCL's Health and Social Care provision across multiple sites. At Coatbridge Campus, Professor Alam received an overview of the College's Health and Social Care courses from Craig Ruxton, followed by a presentation on Dental Nursing programmes delivered by Kate Wilson.
Tony Brady facilitated a tour of Coatbridge's state-of-the-art dementia suite, where Professor Alam had the opportunity to meet students during their clinical skills training sessions. Kate Wilson also provided a comprehensive tour of the dental facilities, enabling the visiting Dean to observe Dental Nursing students in class and see first-hand the quality of teaching and learning environments.
The itinerary continued at Motherwell Campus, where the group enjoyed lunch at the ML1 restaurant before Pamela McElhinney and her team facilitated a tour of the campus's dementia suite. Professor Alam also met with Healthcare students at Motherwell, gaining valuable insights into NCL's approach to practical health education.
Nicola Mulholland, Dean for Academic Partnerships, signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Mansoura National University, establishing a formal framework for future collaborative projects in Health Care and Dental Nursing.
The visit concluded with both parties expressing enthusiasm about continuing discussions for mutually beneficial partnership activities and strengthening this international relationship in the months and years ahead.
