Staff members recently visited China as part of the College’s ongoing partnership with Heze Medical College (HMC), in Shandong Province.
Janice Balshaw and June MacDonald, both lecturers within the Faculty of Care and Science, joined Hazel Scott, International Manager and Mr Jingtao Li, the College’s international representative in China, on the 10-day trip to Beijing and Heze city.
During the visit, Janice and June delivered one week of bespoke lectures to nursing students at a new retirement facility which is affiliated with HMC, with the focus of the lectures being on care for the elderly.
Hazel Scott was also awarded the title of Ambassador of Friendship of Shandong Province during the visit, in recognition of her contributions to the cause of international friendship of the province.
The NCL-HMC partnership agreement includes collaborative activities within the field of elderly care, but predominately focuses on the joint delivery of programmes in Dental Nursing and involves NCL providing online access to dental materials, as well as offering opportunities for staff training and student exchange.
Hazel Scott said: “The trip was deemed a great success in relationship building, developing international activity and strengthening the College’s international relations with HMC.”
