Pamper day for survivors of abuse
Survivors of domestic abuse were welcomed to a pamper day at New College Lanarkshire’s Coatbridge Campus, where staff and students worked with the National Campaign Against Violence Against Women and Girls.
Led by Neil McMullen, Academic Leader for Beauty Aesthetics and Hair Design, teams from across the campus, including Dentistry, Childcare and more, came together to create a truly uplifting experience.
Guests enjoyed complimentary treatments including hair styling, nails and massages, all designed to help them relax, feel cared for and celebrate their strength.
For Katelyn, who graduated with an HND in Beauty Therapy from Motherwell College, the event offered an opportunity to relax. She first learned about the pamper day through Rape Crisis and was later contacted by the Police in East Kilbride, who booked her in to attend.
While she said she felt anxious on arrival as the event was busier than she expected. The atmosphere quickly put her at ease and after receiving hand, arm and back massages, she said she began to feel far more comfortable.
She praised the professionalism and kindness of the students, saying they were “really nice and friendly” and helped her settle into the experience.
NCL was also delighted to welcome Michelle McManus, who came to the event to show her support and spend time with our guests.
