Students from the Faculty of Supported Learning have had sporting success since completing a work placement organised by the College.
Liam Devine, Andrew Stodart and Stuart Wylie were shortlisted for a prestigious sports award following successful work placements with Active Schools in Wishaw.
The trio attended the Scottish Sports Futures awards ceremony in The Radisson Hotel, Glasgow on 8th February 2019 with hopes of bringing home the Personal Development Journey Through Sport Volunteering award, after being nominated by Active Schools Coordinator David Kennedy, who was so impressed with their level of commitment and progress during their placement.
They carried out the one-day a week placement at Berryhill Primary School in Wishaw as part of the Enterprise and Employability course, which aims to give students the skills, confidence and experience to enter into employment.
Carol McGrath, Tutor in the Faculty of Supported Learning, said: “Liam, Andrew and Stuart enjoyed their placement so much and really gained a lot from it.
“Their enjoyment was reflected in their dedication and hard work and I am delighted with the feedback from David.
“To be shortlisted for an award is an absolute credit to the group and their course and we are very proud of how far they have come.
“Well done to the three of you!”
