Brain Health Scotland Centre for Health and Social Care

This is a ground-breaking partnership between New College Lanarkshire and Alzheimer Scotland, dedicated to educating and empowering people across Scotland to protect their brain health.

The Centre focuses on prevention and education, recognising that lifestyle modifications such as drinking more water, sleeping better, exercising regularly, and improving diet can significantly reduce the risk of developing dementia in later life.

Through innovative educational programmes, the centre will deliver a comprehensive range of projects and campaigns, making brain health awareness accessible to students, staff, and the wider community.

From Scotland's first degree-level Brain Health qualification to practical support services including anxiety training for dental students, hair and beauty treatments for those living with dementia, and sports programmes designed to protect the brain, the centre is embedding brain health into every aspect of learning and care at New College Lanarkshire.

Leading the Way

Global research studies clearly indicate that a variety of interventions can support brain health and protect the brain particularly in the later years of life. With this knowledge over the next few years, we will highlight and support, through educational interventions, the importance of brain health and the ways in which brain health can be protected and improved.
