English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL) National 2

Overview

This course aims to develop your language skills so that you can understand and use English language. You will be able to process information more easily and will be able to apply your knowledge of English in practical and relevant contexts.  

You will be assessed on an ongoing basis using practical assessments and assignments.  There is no final examination.

Entry

Complete beginner or Access 2 Literacies 1 and/or 2. Applicants should be familiar with the Roman script. Applicants will also be required to take a placement test prior to starting the course.   This course is undertaken either in a morning or evening session lasting approximately 3 hours per week for 18 weeks.

Learn

The course consists of two units:

  • ESOL for Everyday Life: Listening and Speaking (1.5 credits)
  • ESOL for Everyday Life Reading and Writing (1.5 credits)

These units contribute towards the development of literacy skills by providing you with opportunities to read, write, listen and speak in English.
