English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL) National 4

Overview

This course aims to enhance and develop your language skills so that you can better understand and use more complex English language. You will be able to process information more easily and will be able to apply your knowledge of English.  

You will be assessed on an ongoing basis using practical assessments and assignments.  There is no final examination.

 

Entry

Access 3/National 3. If no certificate is available then candidates will take an ESOL placement test.

Learn

The course consists of three units:

  • ESOL for Everyday Life: You will develop the language skills needed for everyday life in familiar personal, social and transactional contexts.
  • ESOL in Context: You will develop the language skills needed for familiar work- and study-related contexts.
  • ESOL Assignment: You will apply your English language skills to investigate and report on a chosen topic.
