Each year, the College returns a Further Education Statistics (FES) report to the Scottish Funding Council (SFC). This data is used to calculate the delivery of education in Credits and to measure the College performance against a set of national indicators.

SFC provides grants to colleges who undertake to deliver a specified volume of activity measured in Credits (1 Credit is equivalent to 40 hours of planned learning). In respect of the volume of student activity provided to New College Lanarkshire, the College narrowly under delivered on its SFC core funded target by achieving 127,552 SFC funding Credits against a target of 127,699. It also delivered an additional 6,263 European Structural Fund (ESF) - SFC funding Credits, fully meeting the SFC target of 6,263 Credits.
FE-FT provision accounts for 51% of the total delivery at New College Lanarkshire.
The FE-FT success rate has shown a four-year positive trend, rising to 63.0% in 2018/2019. The overall withdrawal rate decreased by 1.7% to its lowest level in four years.
Improvements to FE-FT success rates are positive and on an upward trend, however they remain below the national average. Our institutional strategy sets improvement in retention and success as a high priority objective.
Frameworks and strategies are in place to target learner retention and achievement, which aim to deliver a step change in performance.
HE-FT provision accounts for 29% of the total delivery at New College Lanarkshire.
HE-FT performance is at its highest level over a five year period, however overall the performance has varied little for the past six years. The success rate for session 2018/2019 has shown improvement by 0.8%. Withdrawal has decreased by 2.1%, however partial success increased by 1.1%. Overall, the HE-FT performance is lower than the national average.

The FE-PT success rate has shown a three-year positive trend, rising to 79.2% in 2018/19. Partial success rates have decreased by 1.0%. Withdrawal rates have decreased by 3.6% compared to 2017/18, which is the lowest rate for three years. Overall, the FE-PT performance was strong.
The HE-PT success rate dropped to 75.0% in 2018/19. Withdrawal rates have increased by 0.9% compared to 2017/18.
HE-PT activity accounts for only 2.3% of overall delivery at New College Lanarkshire and as such is vulnerable to larger proportionate swings in performance. However, this does not detract from our focus and drive for improvement.
