Course overview

Study the BA Business and Leadership at New College Lanarkshire in partnership with the University of the West of Scotland (UWS). Designed for applicants with an HNC* or HND qualification, this flexible one-year top-up degree offers a blended learning experience that fits around your work-life balance. Alongside online and face-to-face learning, you'll benefit from industry guest speakers and collaborative workshops while developing the leadership, management and strategic business skills to advance your career.


Year overview

Year 3 builds on your existing business knowledge, developing your skills in leadership, strategic management and professional practice. Through a blend of online learning, face-to-face teaching and industry-led workshops, you'll apply business theory to real-world challenges, preparing you to lead teams, drive organisational success and progress into graduate-level management roles.

 

Entry

Entry requirements for this course include:

  • HND in a relevant subject
  • University Diploma, degree or HND (if not a relevant subject we will require 3 years relevant work experience in a managerial or leadership position with confirmation from your employer)
  • *HNC in a relevant subject + 5 years relevant work experience in a managerial or leadership position with confirmation from your employer. Your HNC must be 120 credits. 
  • When applying you are required to upload a photo of your qualification and experience as per entry requirements above.

*Relevant subjects: Business, Admin, Legal Services, HR, Marketing, Economics, Social Science, Management & Leadership

Please note that if you have received an unconditional offer, you will be required to complete an enrolment form with UWS.

On this course, you will cover a number of topics including, but not limited to:

  • Landscape of Leadership
  • Business Enterprise Creation 
  • Professional Development

There are regular face-to-face, full-day in-person sessions such as lectures and tutorials, and 3 hours per week timetabled drop in online tutorials for each of the three modules students undertake each Trimester. These are recorded for those that can't attend.
