Preparing to work in Social Services and Healthcare – SVQ 2
Overview
If you have an interest in working within the care sector, this course is for you. You do not need any formal qualifications but you are expected to have a genuine interest in working with individuals receiving care. On completing the course, you will be able to register with the Scottish Social Services Council (SSSC).
This course can help towards gaining employment for roles in the care sector, such as healthcare assistant, home support worker, care worker, or support worker.
Entry
No formal entry requirements.
Learn
You will attend College two days per week and also be on practice placement two days per week - the course is a four-day commitment per week in total.
In College, you will study units including Communication, Safeguarding as well as learning first aid and moving and handling.
On placement, you will work towards your SVQ level 2 in Social Services and Health Care.
You will be required to complete a satisfactory PVG.
