Barbering - Advanced Skills at SVQ Level 3
Overview
Do you have previous Barbering experience and a passion for hair? Would you like to explore your creativity as a Barber and challenge yourself to broaden your skills? Are you good with people, hardworking and creative? Then this could be the course for you! The practical activities and knowledge-based tasks will enable you to enhance your existing Barbering skills and explore and develop your creativity both in Commercial Barbering and Commercial Shaving.
Entry
Entry to the course requires achievement of SVQ Level 2 in Barbering or equivalent, or relevant Hairdressing/Barbering experience.
Applicants who meet the recruitment criteria will be provided with access to a Barbering kit, appropriate protective clothing and textbooks.
Important note: Due to Health and Safety Regulations, applicants must be at least 16 years of age by 31st October 2024.

- Creatively Cut hair using a Combination of Barbering Techniques
- Design and Create a Range of Facial Hair Shapes
- Design and Create Patterns in Hair
- Provide Client Consultation Services
- Provide Shaving Services
- Contribute to a Promotional Activity
- Commercial Experience
The above units are examples of what will be delivered within this course but some units may vary across campuses.
You will be required to undertake weekly attendance in college incorporating a commercial salon (this may include a twilight session from 4:30 until 6:30 one evening per week).
