The BA Childhood Practice is delivered at the Coatbridge Campus in partnership with the University of the West of Scotland. The qualification is designed to ensure that managers in early years settings are qualified to Degree level and eligible to register with the Scottish Social Services Council (SSSC). The BA is a part-time evening course and runs one evening a week for three years, with start and finish dates to be confirmed by UWS.

In order to apply for the BA you are required to hold a qualification at Practitioner level, either the HNC Early Education and Childcare or a SVQ level 3. In addition to this you should have the PDA Childhood Practice level 8 or a SVQ 4. If there is a credit shortfall when calculating your relevant academic qualifications, you will have to complete an APEL (accreditation for prior learning) through UWS to reach the required credit level. This can be done prior to starting the course.
The course has been designed to meet the Standard for Childhood Practice through study of learning within childhood, leadership and management, reflective practice and research.
On successful completion of the course you will be able to progress to the Honours year in Childhood Practice.
