International at New College Lanarkshire

At New College Lanarkshire, our international strategy is at the heart of our mission to create a globally connected learning community.

Through strong international partnerships and opportunities for global engagement, we aim to inspire learners and staff to develop the skills, perspectives and confidence needed in an interconnected world.

Our global vision

We believe education is enriched through international collaboration. Guided by our international strategy, the International Team works to:

  • promote NCL’s expertise and specialisms worldwide
  • expand international opportunities for students and staff
  • drive global partnerships and networks
  • develop collaborative and commercial projects across the world

Our approach ensures that NCL remains outward looking, inclusive and aligned with Scotland’s international ambitions.

Global partnerships

Partnership is central to everything we do and NCL works with a growing network of international partners, strengthening existing collaborations and developing new relationships that bring value to learners, staff and communities.

Currently NCL has strong partnership links with 45 international partners across 19 countries. Our partnerships span education, industry and government, ensuring that international activity is meaningful, sustainable and aligned with the College’s long term goals.

Internationalising the curriculum

We are committed to embedding global perspectives across all subject areas.

By working closely with academic teams, we help:

  • create opportunities for global learning
  • integrate intercultural understanding into the curriculum
  • support students to develop as confident global citizens

This ensures that every learner benefits from internationalisation - whether or not they travel abroad.

How we deliver international activity

Our work is shaped by five pillars of international engagement:

  • Increasing and enhancing student and staff mobility opportunities
  • Diversifying NCL’s international collaborative and commercial projects
  • Strengthening NCL’s commitment to meaningful global partnerships
  •  Advancing internationalisation at home for all learners
  • Improving how we share and promote international activity across the College and beyond

These pillars guide our decision making and ensure a cohesive, strategic approach to global engagement.
