BSc Dental Nursing - Year 3

Overview

In Year 3, you’ll refine your skills and prepare for professional practice, with a focus on advanced dental nursing and career development. You’ll study modules including dental nursing additional skills, research for dental practice, leadership and management, technologies in dentistry, professional development, and complex oral health care.

The course remains full-time, with around four days of study each week. This typically includes two days on campus and two days in a dental practice setting.

Your supervised clinical placement will continue to build your experience, supporting you to work more independently and confidently in a real dental practice environment.

Entry

To apply for the BSc Dental Nursing programme, you must:

  • Successfully passed Year 2 of the BSc programme
  • HND: Dental Nursing and be registered with the General Dental Council (GDC) awarded within the last 5 years.

Please note:

  • Participation at an information session, skills assessment and interview forms part of the selection criteria.
  • Access on to this course will be subject to a satisfactory Enhanced Disclosure Scotland check in the form of an Enhanced PVG.
  • A financial payment of £50 will be made by each student as a contribution towards PVGs, uniform and health clearance checks (this can be made in instalments or a one-off payment)

Supervised clinical placement will continue to develop practical experience in a dental practice setting.
